I was raised with calvin at the bush tracks and i can tell you that there is no better person in the world. His head has not grown with his talents. Congratulations.

C-Bo is the man. I have grown up with stories of the Bernis Family and Borels in South Louisiana. T-Red Bernis, Kenward Bernis, and Cecil Bernis.
I have not seen Calvin since he was ten years old, but I am very proud of his accomplishments -- and happy for him and his family. Winning the Derby was a culmination of 25 years of very hard work. Way to go 'Boo Boo'!
I have winning pictures (from the Old Evangeline Downs Race Track (in Carencro) with his brother Cecil as the Jockey. Also pictured is Debbie (Cecil's wife), Mr. and Mrs. Borel (the Senior), Carol, his wife Diane, and Calvin 'Boo Boo'.
I have known Calvin for a very long time. He is a GREAT GUY!! Before Calvin was old enough to ride as a jockey, I remember many trips with his brother Carol, who is married to my sister, Dianne Borel, to Evangeline Downs in Carencro, LA. He could not wait for the weekend to ride in the bush tracks and go to Evangeline Downs. Horse racing has always been the first love in his life and still is. It is not just the racing that Calvin loves, he has a genuine love for horses. He showed that in the winners circle when he gave Street Sense a sponge bath in the winner's circle. I attended Kentucky Derby 2007 and had the priviledge to witness Calvin's life long dream come true. I am so happy for him and would like to wish him the best of luck on a Triple Crown victory!! GO BOO BOO GO!! Paulette Prince, Loreauville, LA
If you've ever seen the movie "Caseys Shadow" with Walter Mathau, you've got a pretty good idea how Calvin grew up..the movie was great and so is Calvin..there may be no real comparisons but when I think of him i immediatly think of that movie..If you like horse stories you've gotta see it. I hope he and "Street Sense" go on to sweep the Triple Crown. I loaded up on him in the Derby and will do the same in the Preakness..Bon Chance Calvin, don' know if that's spelled right, don't speak French, just want to wish him luck and God Speed. BVW
My uncle boo is great...
Mr. Borel is a extremely talented, hard working and humble South Louisiana French Acadian decendant usually called or referred to as a "Cajun". His achivement as the winning jockey in the Kentucky Derby today given the handicaps he had in life and still faces are simply amazing.
