Ok....This has nothing to do with the tennis championship .... Why was the Belmont race pulled yesterday???? In my local newpaper the race was featured to be on at 5:00pm. I patiently waited to see it and all I got was local and national news. Had I known that NBC was not going to show the race, I would have gone to an off-track betting parlor to see it... NBC missed a race for the history books since the filly Rags To Riches won. She is the first filly in over 100 years to win this important race Sorry, you blew it big time and ruined the Sunday of many New Orleans area racing fans.
total concurrance with the earlier comments about lack of HD broadcast. the cameras covering the matches are HD cameras...espn2HD had it in HD, so what is NBC's problem? bush league. also, no excuse not to have both semi-finals on friday. this anger will get much worse if they also pull the same crap at wimbledon.
NBC is really blowing it on the Roland Garros coverage. They did not show the entire semi-final match between Davydenko and Federer, they decided to skip over half of the second or third set, which was a total injustice. On top of that the network had a blue line running across the bottom of the screen, blocking the player , to announce some breaking news. I thought it was going to be something important, such as a terrorist attack, but it was simply announcing that Paris Hilton was being sent back to jail! As if that was so important that they needed to needed to block half of the television screen and interrupt the tennis match. NBC is officially the worst station. I hope they no longer get the rights to tennis matches, because they double faulted on this one.
Yeah, NBC should get out of the tennis business if they are going to do everything half-a**ed. Why don't they simply let some network that will do a good job have the coverage? Unbelievable that they are not broadcasting the matches they have in HD! I finally have a great HDTV to watch, HD cable channels, the legendary matchup of Nadal-Federer #2 and then I turn on NBC to watch the semis and see they are broadcasting (only one of the matches-and not even live!!) in CrapDefinition. When you have a good TV it actually now looks worse than if I had stayed with an old TV. I can live with that with most shows and with older movies, but when it comes to the big sporting events there is simply no excuse anymore to show it in CrapD. ESPN2's coverage in HD looked unbelievable, I was like Dan Marino in his football Samsung commercial ("You mean I'm not really there?"). Then I watch the NBC coverage and it looked so blurry I could hardly stand to watch. I'm going to watch the match on an old TV I guess, because I just can't miss this one. But shame on NBC for ruining this occasion. They pay to get the rights to the matches, but then decide to completely drop the ball but treating tennis like a complete after-thought. Maybe the sport's popularity has lagged somewhat, but their lackadaisical manner of coverage is terrible. It you don't want to do it right, then relinquish the rights to another network who will do a good job. So disappointed about the final.
Roland Garros coverage. I am reporting my disappointment that NBC did not show both men's semi-final matches. Having the "broadcast rights" to the Friday, Saturday, and Sundays matches and then now showing them prevents me from seeing them anywhere (because I do not have the Tennis Channel) Part of the second match [Nadal vs. Djokovic] was aired this morning following the Women's Final, so I know your station covered it, but decided it wasn't important enough to show in it's entirity. Very frustrating for a tennis fan.
